| COVERTITE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 The scope of the work is to design, manufacture and install fixed, air-tight, vapor-tight and water-tight aluminum flat covers for separators, clarifiers, sludge tanks and other open tanks. 1.02 Covers shall be manufactured by Thermacon, 516/683-0888 PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 Performance Criteria A. Covers shall be designed air-tight, vapor-tight and water-tight not to allow air or water from below the covers to escape or air and water from above the covers to infiltrate the tanks. B. Covers shall be made tight by use of gaskets between each panel and around the outside edge in contact with the surrounding walls. C. No secondary sealing or caulking shall be used to achieve tightness. D. Gaskets shall be Neoprene Mil R900, unless otherwise specified. 2.02 DESIGN CRITERIA A. Covers shall be clear span supported from edge of the channel only. B. No intermediate supports between covers or cover sections shall be allowed. C. Covers shall be removable by plant personnel without the use of special lifting equipment. Note: Do not specify weight until determination of the overall span, width, and desired loads are estimated. 2.03 DESIGN LOADS A. Uniform load minimum 20 lbs PSF. B. Point load minimum 250 lbs PSF. C. Deflection rate minimum L/240, where L is overall cover length. 2.04 MATERIALS A. Covers shall be made from aluminum ASTM B209 alloy 6061 or 5052, or ASTM B308 alloy 6061, with a minimum thickness .09". B. Covers shall be anodized etched with architectural class 1 anodized both sides, AA-M12C22A41, clear as specified by the Aluminum Association. C. All bolts and fasteners shall be type 316 stainless steel in compliance with ASTM A167. 2.05 MAINTENANCE AND OPERATlONS A. No more than six (6) bolts in total will be needed to remove any one cover. B. No more than two other panels shall be disturbed when removing a single panel from any location. C. No multiple covers shall be allowed for any given span.
